Petr Kolečko

Petr Kolečko is a graduate of directing and dramaturgy at the Prague DAMU. His play "Britney Goes to Heaven", which was performed by the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava, was translated into English and presented as a stage reading at the Immigrants Theatre in New York. It was also translated into Polish. The play "Soumrak bodů", which he wrote as his bachelor's project at DAMU, was performed at the Prague DISK theatre. He's been the artistic director of Prague's A studio Rubín theatre since 2009, where he has produced many successful projects.

In 2010, together with Jan Prušinovský, he wrote a successful television series "Okresní přebor", which was followed up with a feature film two years later. Since then, he has been one of the most successful Czech screenwriters. His other breakthrough works include the series "Čtvrtá hvězda", "Trpaslík", "Vyšehrad", "Lajna" and "MOST!".

He is the winner of the Czech Lion award for best screenplay for the film "Masaryk", directed by Juli Ševčík . In 2018, Kolečko began writing another film, "Přes prsty", which he eventually directed himself. It was his directorial debut, and was released in cinemas the following summer.

His other TV series include Nový zivot (2020), Osada (2021), Iveta (2023) and Psychosimona (2024).
